How TempSure Envi® Can Improve the Appearance of Your Knees

Much attention is focused on sagging skin around your face or neck, but your skin is an extremely large organ, and other areas can succumb to drooping. A great example of this is the skin around your knees.

If you started hiding your knees because of sagging skin, TempSure Envi® is their ticket to freedom.

Recognizing that the aging process can be difficult, especially when your outward appearance doesn’t align with your youthful spirit on the inside, Dr. David Foulk and our team here at Marion Ob/Gyn have equipped ourselves with an innovative skin tightening technology called TempSure Envi.

Here’s a look at how we can use this technology to tighten your skin in those highly visible areas, including around your knees.

Behind the sagging skin around your knees

You watch with dismay as your skin slowly creeps south, perhaps first noticing the effect in your face and neck. But these areas of your skin are just the tip of the iceberg if you consider that your skin is your largest organ. In fact, the average human skin covers 22 square feet.

The sagging in your skin is largely caused by a lack of collagen, which is the protein that provides structure and support to your tissues. Starting in your 20s, your body’s production of collagen slowly declines — about 1% a year — and this decline can add up over the years.

This loss of collagen production affects all of your tissues, including the skin around your knees. Since you need to be able to bend your knees, these areas contain more folds of skin to allow more movement. When you lose collagen, the extra skin around your knees can droop above and to the sides of your kneecaps.

Another reason you may have sagging skin around your knees, at any age, is due to weight loss. If you carried extra pounds, your skin stretched to accommodate them. When you lose weight, your skin may not bounce back, leaving you with areas of skin that hang down.

Lift and tighten

To tackle sagging skin around your knees, we turn to TempSure Envi to increase collagen production. With TempSure Envi, we deliver radiofrequency energy deep into your tissues, which receives the energy as heat.

This heat then creates a mild healing response in your tissue, and one of the first responders is collagen. Rest assured, this energy passes harmlessly through the surface of your skin.

To tighten the skin around your knees, you may need a series of TempSure Envi treatments, which we space apart to allow time for the collagen induction therapy to work.

While you may notice favorable results after each treatment, you’ll realize your optimal results about four to six weeks after your final TempSure Envi session. The reason for the delay is that your body needs time to rebuild the support in your skin with renewed collagen production.

While we know winter is just beginning here in Ohio, we wanted to highlight this skin-tightening treatment now so that your knees are ready to greet the warmer temps of spring in great form.
