How Long Do CoolSculpting® Results Last?

You’re within your target weight, but your efforts are still overshadowed by stubborn deposits of fat that refuse to let go. If this sounds familiar, our CoolSculpting® technology is the perfect tool for bridging the gap to your ideal body shape.

To help make the decision easier, Dr. David Foulk and our team here at Marion Ob/Gyn want to take this opportunity to explain why CoolSculpting is so successful.

There are three main reasons why CoolSculpting works so well when it comes to battling stubborn fat, not the least of which are long-lasting results.

The trifecta of fat busting

As we mentioned, there are three primary reasons why CoolSculpting is so popular and delivers such great results:

For the purposes of this discussion, we’re going to concentrate on the third item on this list — the duration of your results.

Gone for good

With CoolSculpting, we freeze and destroy fat cells in your target area and once they’re gone, they don’t come back. To better understand the significance of this, we need to take a brief dive into the science of fat.

As an adolescent, you reach the number of fat cells you’ll carry for the rest of your life, and this number doesn’t vary by much. Each year, 10% of your fat cells die off, but they’re replaced by new ones, and always the same number.

Your fat cells store lipids, which your body burns for energy. When you lose weight, your body calls on stores of lipids in your fat cells for energy, which causes the fat cells to shrink, but not disappear.

When you gain weight, your existing fat cells are tasked with carrying more lipids, which causes them to expand.

In other words, gaining and losing weight affects the size of your fat cells, but not their overall number. With CoolSculpting, we can destroy 20-25% of fat cells in your treatment areas, permanently reducing the overall number of fat cells.

Bringing this back around to the title we pose in the blog about how long results last, CoolSculpting results are not just long-lasting; they’re permanent.

We want to be sure you understand that while the results from your CoolSculpting treatments are permanent, you can still gain back fat in your treatment areas. If you take in more calories than you burn, your remaining fat cells pick up the slack and store the excess as fat.

If you want to preserve your great results, we recommend that you continue to eat right and exercise after your CoolSculpting treatments so you can enjoy your new body shape for years to come.
